Song Lyrics

So sometimes we all hear a song on the radio and either part or all of the lyrics somehow resinate with us. We feel like we can relate, that the lyrics kind of sum up what we've been thinking about, or that it explains some sort of struggle or blessing we are experiencing.

The Song "Show Me What I'm Looking For" - by Carolina Liar - is a recent song that I feel like sums up many of my thoughts lately. I have no idea what this song meant to the songwriter; as with most songs, it has it's own meaning for me personally.

Charlie- I know you think it's cheesy for me to post song lyrics, but I so am going to. lol... but at least I didn't write the lyrics and then post them for all my friends to see because I thought they were so good when really they aren't, right? A little credit for that?

Anyway, here are the lyrics... many of you may have heard this song...

Wait, I’m wrong
Should have done better than this
Please, I’ll be strong
I’m finding it hard to resist
So show me what I’m looking for

CHORUS
Save me, I’m lost
Oh lord, I’ve been waiting for you
I’ll pay any cost
Save me from being confused
Show me what I’m looking for
Show me what I’m looking for…oh lord

Don’t let go
I’ve wanted this far too long
Mistakes become regrets
I’ve learned to love abuse
Please show me what I’m looking for

(chorus repeats a few times)

How does this song have meaning for me? Well, in short, I feel confused about a lot of life/God things lately... that's all the info I'm going to give. hehe

What song(s) do YOU relate to? Can be recent or in the past... post a comment with the song... you can post lyrics and explain why it means something to you or just post the title...

My "life" theme song lately has been "Bring on the Rain" by Jodee Messina.

Another day has almost come and gone
Cant imagine
what else could wrong
Sometimes Id like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war (cause)

Tomorrows another day
And Im thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

Its almost like the hard times circle round
A couple drops and they all start coming down
Yeah, I might feel defeated,
I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing - but Im not dead

Tomorrows another day
And Im thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

Im not gonna let it get me down
Im not gonna cry
And Im not gonna lose any sleep tonight

Tomorrow another day
And Im am not afraid
So bring on the rain
Tomorrows another day
And Im thirsty anyways
So bring on the rain
Goes with my favorite saying at the moment....
Life isn't about praying for the storm to stop, it is about learning to dance in the rain.

Chare- good song! thanks for sharing! I feel like I can relate to that song sometimes, except I feel like my "battle" won't quite be over by 'tomorrow'

Believe it or not, I do not know the song. Maybe I have and am just having a hard time recognizing it w/o hearing it? There are several songs I hear that make me think of things in my life from the past, but I can't really think of one right now that would be a 'theme' to my life now.... :(

This one is SO special to me. It is a song to my girls:

I Hope You Dance lyrics by
Lee Ann Womack

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder

You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,

May you never take one single breath for granted,

GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,

Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens,

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,

CHORUS:
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance....

I hope you dance!....I hope you dance!

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,

Never settle for the path of least resistance

Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin',

Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',

Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,

When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance!
I hope you dance!
I hope you dance!
I hope you dance!

(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance!
I hope you dance!
I hope you dance!
I hope you dance!

This song is important to me because I want my children to be free to be themselves and fly! I want them to seize life and appreciate every moment. I want nothing but the best for E and A. and I will sacrifice all I have to make it happen.

Great post. I've been actually thinking of writing something on facebook about this song and how it really explains the struggle within my heart and soul.

Pitiful Lyrics
Artist(Band):Blindside

as I recall when my stomach turned
and I was hiding away from myself
away from you
like nothing (but something) was terribly wrong
and I admit that I was only waiting for the right time (night time)
the right moment for you to look away
though you never did I pretended for a while
so I could walk where I don't belong

I remember every word you said
come back in time come back
and I remember I'd soon be dead
pitiful so pitiful

but I know as they hammered those nails
into your beautiful hands
your eyes they tried to search for mine
but I look away
now your eyes are the only thing that can save me
I'm still afraid of them piercin'
you're breaking into my prison
just pretended for a while
my soul is dying and I won't look away

I remember every word you said
come back in time come back
and I remember I'd soon be dead
pitiful so pitiful

pitiful
pitiful
pitiful
pitiful
so pitiful

and I remember every word you said
this time I won't look away
and I remember every word you said
and this time I won't look away

and I remember every word you said
come back in time come back
and I remember I'd soon be dead
pitiful so pitiful

I'm leaving another comment because this song also been bouncing around in my head a lot.

Its called Great Lengths by PFR

Here i am once again
pleading
to the sky
kneeling to the sands shedding my
regrets
knowing You'll forget everything

Chorus
why didn't i go to such great lengths to
try to please You
instead i tried to please myself
in the end when your heart is broken
i see the folly of trying to please myself

i have not yet arrived
seeing
anything
quiet my desires till they die
until they die
or align with Your will

John, that PFR song is great. I bought that album in 1995 when it first released, and still consider it a favorite.
